During their working life, rechargeable batteries in a laptop are repeatedly re-charged after they have been drained. Despite Compaq laptops progressively declining in numbers after the 2002 merger with Hewlett-Packard, HP does however continue to market various Compaq branded laptops for consumers and businesses.

For the most part the consumer tailored Compaq Presario laptops produced today are lower priced versions of HP’s highly successful Pavilion line.
